{"id":130,"date":"2014-12-17T16:29:42","date_gmt":"2014-12-17T16:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cas.wp.wsu.edu\/crmj-news\/?page_id=130"},"modified":"2015-01-15T00:01:56","modified_gmt":"2015-01-15T00:01:56","slug":"bryan-vila-presents-at-white-houses-datapalooza","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/crmj.wsu.edu\/newsletter\/spring-2014\/bryan-vila-presents-at-white-houses-datapalooza\/","title":{"rendered":"Bryan Vila presents at White House&#8217;s Datapalooza"},"content":{"rendered":"<section id=\"builder-section-1420673730681\" class=\"row single h1-header gutter pad-top\">\n<div class=\"column one\">\n<h1>Bryan Vila presents at White House&#8217;s Datapalooza<\/h1>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"builder-section-1420673726558\" class=\"row halves gutter pad-top\">\n<div class=\"column one \">\n<p>Our very own <a href=\"http:\/\/crmj.wsu.edu\/faculty-and-staff\/faculty\/bryan-vila\/\">Dr. Bryan Vila<\/a> recently returned from a trip to Washington, D.C. for the second annual White House Safety Datapalooza, where he introduced the BeSharp app. This app monitors objective assessments of police officer fatigue with a small device similar to a wrist monitor. Called wrist actigraphy, the device monitors rest\/activity cycles by measuring motor activity. The app sends text message alerts to officers as they become potentially impaired by fatigue while on duty. These alerts tell officers to take precautionary measures depending on level of fatigue.
