<\/a>Dr. Melanie-Angela Neuilly<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nDr. Melanie-Angela Neuilly brought a group of 11 students to London March 9\u201317 for the fifth iteration of Criminal Justice Study Abroad, the Department’s signature faculty-led study abroad program. <\/span><\/p>\nThis year, students visited the usual sites (Tower of London; Westminster Abbey; Houses of Parliament; Coroner’s, Magistrates’, and Crown Courts; among others), but also experienced some new additions, such as Broadmoor Hospital, a high security psychiatric facility housing such patients as Michael Adebowale, the killer of soldier Lee Rigby, and Peter William Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper. It is, of course, also where Daniel M’Naghten, of M’Naghten Rules for insanity defense fame, was incarcerated in the 1840s. Also new this year was a visit with the Metropolitan Police Youth Cadets, an at-risk youth diversion program led by London’s main police force.
